I NEED YOUR HELP!

Does The Sacred Eyes Project resonate with you? Here are some things you can do to help make it happen.

PRAY

Prayer is the oxygen of The Sacred Eyes Project, so I'm grateful for anyone willing to pray.  The project's Facebook page and blog are the best places to find prayer needs. Or meet me at F Street Church on a Sunday morning for a bagel. Your friendly interest is welcome and deeply encouraging.

PRACTICAL GIFTS

The Sacred Eyes Project needs:

  1. A small laptop (or tablet?): This would be used to manage images, stories, contacts, and this website, including writing the blog. It needs to be portable because I'll be on the road a fair bit as I work. For ease of syncing with our desktop computer, a Mac product would work best, but I would be thrilled with any good condition, reasonably up-to-date unit.
  2. Art supplies: Supplies will be needed for the portraits themselves, but also for classes and open studio dates. We can use whatever you'd like to give! (brushes, paints, paper, canvas, stretcher bars, charcoal, drawing pencils, markers...) It's necessary that I select some items personally, so...
  3. Gift certificates to art supply stores: I would like to support my local independent art store, Gomez Art Supply, but gift certificates to other suppliers would also be a tremendous help. I generally buy canvas from Hancock Fabrics.
  4. Framing: The finished portraits will need to be framed in preparation for showing and traveling. Professional framing would be ideal, but I'm also willing to build frames if I can acquire the needed supplies.
  5. Carpentry, electrical and HVAC: F Street Church has offered the use of an incredible little building with tons of character on its property for a studio and classroom space. This is also where I would like to host the first showing of The Sacred Eyes Project. The building needs wiring, plumbing, track lighting, and a heat/ac unit. Repairs to doors, steps, and windows are also needed. This work will be coordinated through the church and needs to meet public building codes.

FUNDING

Any giving toward Sacred Eyes will be directed completely toward supplies for the portraits and classes, and renovation and upkeep of the facility at F Street Church.

Giving will be channeled through F Street Church to enable donors to receive a tax receipt and to ensure oversight and accountability in the use of funds. If you wish to help fund Sacred Eyes, you can write a check to F Street Church and send it to 1302 F Street, Lincoln, NE, 68508. Please enclose a note designating your gift to The Sacred Eyes Project.

Because F Street's ministry is to a high-poverty neighborhood, funding needs are always present. The Sacred Eyes Project is completely donor-funded and all proceeds from sales of artwork will go to F Street Neighborhood Church.
